António Ramalho - CEO

Graduated in law from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, António Manuel Palma Ramalho has vast experience in the financial sector. António Ramalho entered the financial system in 1985 through the Portuguese Banking Association, where he was in charge of training in financial markets at the Instituto de Formação Bancária. In 1990 he joined Banco Pinto Sotto Mayor, where he worked in the financial division, and became a director of this bank in 1993. He remained in the Board after the Bank was purchased by the Champalimaud Group and integrated the Boards of the other banks of this Group, Banco Totta e Açores, Crédito Predial Português and Banco Chemical Finance, always in charge of the strategic and financial areas. After working on the split that preceded the Group's sale in 2000, he joined the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Grupo Santander Totta in Portugal, in charge of the commercial area and the real estate portfolio of Crédito Predial Português, until 2003. In 2004 António Ramalho enters the public sector, working in the financial areas of transport and infrastructure companies, first with Rave and then as Chairman of the Board of CP – Comboios de Portugal, from 2004 to 2006. In 2006 he returns to the financial sector as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Unicre, a company held by the main Portuguese banks, and in 2010 joins Millennium BCP, as CFO and executive Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Group's Real Estate Investment Bank. In 2012 he goes back to the infrastructure sector, as Chairman and CEO of Estradas de Portugal, where he was in charge of the merger between Estradas de Portugal and Refer – Rede Ferroviária Nacional that originated in 2015 Infraestruturas de Portugal, a company with 27 billion euros in road and rail net assets, of which he was Chairman. In his professional life António Ramalho held various non-executive positions, namely as member of the Board of Directors of the Lisbon Stock Exchange until 2000, Chairman of several financial companies of the Champalimaud Group until 2000, non-executive member of the Board of Directors of PT between 2008 and 2010, Board member of VISA Southern Europe between 2007 and 2010, and member of Euronext NV's Supervisory Board until 2012. António Manuel Palma Ramalho is married and has two daughters.

Luísa Soares da Silva

Graduated in Law from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Lisbon). Before joining NOVO BANCO, Luísa Soares da Silva practised financial, banking, insurance and capital markets law in Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados (MLGTS), since 2001 as a Partner. Luísa Soares da Silva is married and has two children.

Rui Fontes

Rui Fontes joined the banking sector in former BES, having assumed several job positions first in the commercial area and after in the credit risk. In 2000, was Head of the Global Risk Department and in 2012 assumed the responsibility for the coordination of this Department, which he maintained during the transition to NOVO BANCO and until his appointment as board member. 

Fontes is a member of the EBD of NOVO BANCO since 6 April 2017, acting as responsible for Risk and Internal Control Areas and after the acquisition of NOVO BANCO by Lone Star on 18 October 2017, he has been appointed Chief Risk Officer by the General Supervisory Board.

Luís Ribeiro

Luis Ribeiro, who was already a member of the board of directors of the NOVO BANCO of the Azores and Garval - Sociedade de Garantia Mútua, was currently responsible for the coordination of the Southern Companies area and previously for the Retail area, where he performed various functions throughout his 23 years of commercial banking experience. At age 47, Luis Ribeiro has a degree in Economics, attending the Advanced Management Program for Executives of Universidade Católica as well as the Advanced Executive Program of Nova SBE.


Mark Bourke

Mark Bourke is a Financial Services specialist professional with a vast career in the most important companies in the field. He got his Diploma in Accounting from Dublin City University after finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineer Electronics from University College Dublin. Mr. Bourke began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1989 and is a former partner in international tax services with PwC US in California. After that in the year 2000, Mr. Bourke joined IFG Group as a Finance Director and was promoted Group Chief Executive Officer in 2006.  Mr Bourke joined AIB in April 2014 as Chief Financial Officer and member of AIB’s Leadership Team and was co-opted to the Board on 29 May 2014. He is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Taxation Institute. Mark won the Irish Times CFO of the Year Award 2018. 

Andrés Baltar 

Andrés Baltar is a Corporate and Investment banking professional with over 30 years of relevant banking experience. Andrés began his banking career at The Chase Manhattan Bank as a credit analyst, in Madrid, followed by a front office role running the Infrastructure, Construction, Engineering and Real Estate sectors.

In 2001, he joined Barclays as part of the Investment Banking team in Spain, responsible for the Capital Markets Debt Origination and the Derivatives businesses. In 2010, Andres was appointed Head of the Corporate Banking business, initially in Spain, shortly after extended to Iberia, and eventually relocated to Dubai to run the Corporate Banking practice for the Middle East. In 2018, Andres was promoted to the Executive Committee of Barclays Europe as Head of Corporate Banking covering 9 countries across continental Europe.

Andrés holds a degree in Business Administration for the Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao.
